Damanoire practice

Damanoire works in two registers. Codification, for heritage houses and institutions with a visual language that needs to be defined and extended. Invention, for founders building a brand world from the ground up. The method is the same in both registers. The starting material is different.

Most heritage houses already have a genre. It was built by a founder, refined across decades, and lives partly in archive and partly in instinct. The next generation inherits the material without inheriting a system. Codification turns the genre into a system. The result is a brand book, a visual language, and a written narrative that the family, the team, and outside vendors can all work from.

Invention is the other case. A founder builds a new brand from a market position. There is no existing genre to articulate. The work begins earlier, with cultural research and a synthesis the brand does not yet have. The output is the same shape as a codification engagement. Brand book, visual language, written narrative, applied across surfaces.

Either track produces an apparatus. Name, narrative, mark, typography, colour, spatial register, product story. All derived from one body of primary research, internally consistent, and extensible by the client for years after the engagement closes.

Damanoire delivers concept, strategy, and direction. Production work that follows the engagement (manufacturing, photography production, fit-out construction) is the client's responsibility. The studio recommends production partners and oversees their work. The studio does not execute production.
